Western Excelsior manufactures a full line of sediment and erosion control products. Wester Excelsior specializes in 100% Rocky Mountain Machine Produced Excelsior.   Western Excelsior will provide temporary, extended term and permanent rolled erosion control products (RECPs) and excelsior and straw sediment control logs. Western Excelsior offers the XCEL line of temporary and extended term ECBs and sediment control products provide performance and longevity to meet a variety of erosion control needs. Western Excelsior’s PP5 line of permanent RECPs provides outstanding value, longevity and performance in turf reinforcement. Every product is produced under Western Excelsior’s Quality Assurance Program and is rigorously tested to ensure performance.

Temporary ECBs

Western Excelsior’s unique excelsior matrix temporary ECBs are constructed of exceptionally durable and strong wood fibers that utilize 100% Rocky Mountain Aspen and a thicker cut fiber, the Excel R-1 and Excel S-2 products which out perform other excelsior blankets. The matrix of the Excel R-1 and Excel S-2 is open and lofty and provides the best growing medium of any RECP. Available in rapid degradable (Rapid Go) and 100% biodegradable (All Natural), Excel R-1 and Excel S-2 provide variable degradation to meet any project requirement.

Excel SR-1 and Excel SS-2 are comprised of 100% certified weed free straw, and provide reliable and economical erosion control. Straw fibers utilized for Excel straw blankets are long, dry and stiff, which yield the highest quality final product. Both Excel SR-1 and SS-2 ECB are manufactured to provide the shortest RECP longevity and are ideal for rainfall/rainsplash protection of slopes and as a channel liner in low risk/low gradient scenarios. Excel straw blankets are available in regular degradability, rapid degradable and 100% biodegradable.

Extended Term ECBs

Excel CS-3 and Excel CS-3 All Natural provide extended longevity, yielding protection for up to 24 months. Extended term blankets are ideal for arid environments or situations where vegetation establishes slowly.

Excel CC-4 and Excel CC-4 All Natural coconut matrix RECPs provide longevity of up to 36 months and are ideal for steep slopes or use as a channel liner. All component materials utilized for Excel CC-4 are stabilized to ensure the greatest possible longevity of any degradable product.

Excel SD-3 is a heavy duty, UV stabilized excelsior matrix providing the highest level of protection in channelized scenario of any degradable product.

Permanent TRMs

Western Excelsior manufactures a series of permanent Turf Reinforcement Mats (TRMs) to provide permanent turf reinforcement and immediate erosion control. The PP5 series consists of eight, ten and twelve ounce per square yard (PP5-8, PP5-10 and PP5-12 respectively) varieties. Designed to provide increasing levels of unvegetated performance, the PP5 series is constructed of ultraviolet (UV) stabilized fibers stitch bound between heavy duty UV stabilized netting. The PP5 series provides outstanding value in turf reinforcement.

Sediment Control Logs

Excel Straw Logs provide high filtration and low flow through to act as slope interruption and flow barriers. Aspen Excelsior Logs provide greater flow through and longevity.

Hydro-Mulch

100% Aspen Mulch and Aspen Turbo Mulch offer wood and wood/paper blend mulches for seed establishment.
